At Thursday night’s NXT taping at Full Sail University, a segment was taped with Asuka coming to the ring and vacating the NXT women’s championship.
A video package on Asuka ran in the arena and then Asuka came out along with the locker room emptying for what appears to be her send off to the main roster.
William Regal was also part of the segment to announce that negotiations had begun to send Asuka to either Raw or SmackDown Live.
The 35-year old Asuka (Kanako Urai) signed with the WWE in 2015. She won the NXT women’s title from Bayley on April 1st 2016 in Dallas, Texas and has held the title ever since with a total of 510 days as champion.
Along with Bobby Roode, they are the latest call ups to the main roster. You could argue Asuka had become the biggest star because of her title reign taking on a life of its own and her title defences presented as major matches because of the lengthy reign.
